Small Dogs for Adoption

To find out where and when our adoption days will be held please look at our Calendar of Adoption Days . Each rescue group holds independent adoptions at different locations, so be sure to visit the adoption site of the rescue group that is the holder of the pet you're interested in. However, please realize that not all of the fosters can always be accommodated at each of our adoptions, so if you see a pet you are especially interested in, submit an online application.

For information on a pending application, please click on the "contact" link on the specific dog, then click on the "e-mail" link. All applicants will be screened and an adoption fee is required. Pet Orphans' rescue groups do not ship or adopt pets out-of-state and many rescue groups prefer to adopt only in the metro Atlanta area.

Animal Control by his owners at approximately 6 years old. Heis "MR. PERSONALITY" (according to his foster mom): an example - heACTUALLY answers his foster mom when she speaks to him! Mamba is a cute black and grey Shih Tzu mix. She is 8 years old. Mamba came to SDR from a local animal control and is still learning to trust people. Mamba is very wary of sudden movements but usually does very well when spoken to gently and approached slowly. She likes cuddling in laps and has great house manners. Mamba walks great on a leash and likes to play with toys. She will need an adult-only home now and in the future.

Izzy was given up by her owners as their teenage daughters did not bond to her. Izzy is a quiet, calm dog inside dog that likes to be by her person. She is a snuggly little lap dog. She loves to give little kisses and get her belly rubbed. She will lay beside you when you are relaxing or watching TV. She is used to sleeping on the bed with her foster mom. Meet Sugie Pie!!  She was rescued with her two sisters from a commercial breeding facility in Mo. We can only imagine the life she has endured up until now, but thanks to Chi Rescue Ga she now has a second chance.  Sugie was used as breeding stock and so up until now she hasn't had much human contact. She is learning the ropes quickly and will need a patient person to help her to come out of her shell. She already enjoys exploring the back yard, sleeping on warm comfy beds with her doggie friends, and receiving treats. Buddy is approximately a year old and some chewing behavior has been observed so patience and redirection will be required. He weighs 20 lbs. and has coarse, scruffy terrier hair. He is black with a white marking on his chest and touches of white on all four feet. Buddy has a long expressive tail which he carries in a question mark position. His affectionate, energetic, exuberant personality is irresistible. He relates well to people and is generous with sharing face kisses. He has been observed to play and interact well with small dogs. Buddy has been fully vetted, neutered, and microchipped. He is in excellent health. 9 1/2 years old, 7 lbs - Jerry is only 5 lbs but he thinks he is 55 lbs. He is so funny and will quack (sounds like a duck) at the big dogs if they get too riled up. Jerry spends his days sitting on a pillow on my bed side table or the table in the living room window and just watching the world. He loves to sit in my lap and will paw at my hands when I stop petting him. Jerry listens perfectly, comes when called. Jerry is great off leash and just wants to stay in your shadow but with his size you have to be careful of birds of prey that can carry him off. He cannot go outside alone! Jerry has only a few teeth left so he loves the soft foods. He runs in circles to get in his crate to eat. Jerry needs a home with ONE PERSON where he can follow someone around and sit in their lap all day while they watch soap operas. He is a one person dog and if he is in that persons lap and you come to pet him, he growls and snaps. He has no teeth so it doesn’t hurt but he is comfortable and you better not touch him or his person! He would be perfect for an older person as long as they can go outside with him, feed him treats and spoil him rotten.All dogs are fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, spayed/neutered and microchipped.
