Large Dogs for Adoption
To find out where and when our adoption days will be held please look at our Calendar of Adoption Days . Each rescue group holds independent adoptions at different locations, so be sure to visit the adoption site of the rescue group that is the holder of the pet you're interested in. However, please realize that not all of the fosters can always be accommodated at each of our adoptions, so if you see a pet you are especially interested in, submit an online application. For information on a pending application, please click on the "contact" link on the specific dog, then click on the "e-mail" link. All applicants will be screened and an adoption fee is required. Pet Orphans' rescue groups do not ship or adopt pets out-of-state and many rescue groups prefer to adopt only in the metro Atlanta area.Please consider participating in our Pet Guardians program, a way to help sponsor an orphan pet of your choice.

DELILAH- Young Female

recently got divorced and was trying to keep my wonderful dog, Delilah. But I just moved into an apartment and they will not let me have her. She's at my mother's right now but she cannot stay there. Do you take in pits whose owners CANT keep them? She certainly is not unwanted. Giving her up is killing me. I just want her to have a good home and people to love her as much as I do.

MARTIN- young male

Martin is an adorable 5 to 7 month old puppy. He weighs 53 pounds, so hewill probably be a big boy when fully grown. Dino was found in the middleof a busy intersection on Mother's Day with no place to go, and no onelooking for him. He is energetic and enthusiastic and loves his toys! Dino loves other dogs and just wants to play, play, play! He currently livesin a foster home with three other dogs. Dino has been to the vet and isneutered, dewormed, microchipped, up to date on vaccines and Heartwormnegative. Dino is crate trained and working on perfecting his housetraining. Hi! My name is Booker. I am a big, playful, silly guy. I am about one year old and weigh 54 lbs. I really want to find my forever home too. I am just a puppy myself but I had a litter recently. My whole family was rescued out of a backyard. I had a girlfriend and six puppies, but no shelter, food or water. We were all safe now and live happily inside a nice house. We have plenty to eat and drink too. Even though my entire family had a rough start, we are all very lovable, friendly and would fit in just about anywhere. I just love my foster home and I live with several other canines. I am very eager to please and will do anything for petting and attention. I have already been to the vet and I am neutered and have all of my vaccines. I am on Heartworm preventative and I am doing really well with my potty training. Sway is a super sweet Pit/Pointer mix with a ton of smarts and great social skills. He adores other dogs almost as much as his toys, and can get along with pretty much anyone; dominant female pit bulls, loud kids and zany cats included. Despite spending his puppy hood on a chain, this boy isn't afraid of much and has adjusted to the good life with ease. He is a dream on leash, crate trained and knows the basics. Date of birth: 12/28/2008. Dallas is a friendly and playful young dog! He was returned when his family could no longer keep him due to the economy. He is good with kids and loves to hang out with the family. He's always happy to join you for a car ride. Dallas is energetic and enjoys regular exercise, but also settles down easily. One of his favorite pastimes is fetching a ball and he loves playing with toys. Dallas gets along well with cats and other dogs and would like having a playmate. He would also do well with play dates or trips to the dog park. He is perfectly crate trained. He will sit and stay on command and is not a barker. Mr. JENKINS- young male

Handsome Mr. Jenkins is a young (1-2 year) Pitbull (65 lbs) who was dumpedon a farm as a very thin, frightened dog. He wore an old ragged collar anda choke chain that almost had to be cut off (obviously, he had grown intothese old collars). The couple who took him in did not want a dog anddetermined to take him to their very remote county "pound" where he wouldhave been KILLED or worse: adopted, then possibly chained up, bred, and/orused in fighting. He is in great shape now. He loves the company of many ofthe other dogs in his foster home and has been a really good boy in hisfoster life. Jenkins listens and can be easily corrected w/a firm "no" androutinely comes when called. He has even indicated he would do okw/kitties. Lots really GOOD to say about this very nice dog! Date of birth: 5/16/2009. I'm Lavender - the sweetest, smartest, lab mix you will ever meet! I weigh about 50 lbs. I settle down easily and will lay at your feet just to be near you. I was abandoned and am so thankful to be in a safe, comfortable place. I am full of energy and need daily exercise I love to play outside and enjoy walks. I would do best with a fenced yard and another dog to play with on a regular basis. I have a soft coat and dont even mind bath time! I have learned not to jump on visitors and to stay off the furniture. I am housebroken and, even though Ive had every opportunity to get in the trash, I have not touched it at all. Please consider giving me the loving home I've been waiting for!

Jake loves to play with balls and ropes and sticks, like all labs. He does chase cats when they run outside so he will need training on this. Other then that Jake is an angel. He is so precious when you see him curled up in a little ball sleeping like a puppy and making quiet little snoring noises. VALENTINO- young male

Valentino recalls a beautiful admired actor. This Valentino is admirable, too, because he has endured a life that was not so nice to him (note the scars on his face), yet he is about the sweetest fellow this rescuer has met! He is WONDERFUL w/people and treasures any attention he can get. He was tossed into the pound by his family who stated: we have too many dogs His family didnt look back or even leave his name. He was a shelter favorite, even when there are so many other dogs there. He was down to his "last day" and this rescuer heard the pleas of the shelter staff and took him in. He is EVERYTHING they raved about and more! He is good w/other dogs but a loner and wants to be 1st in line for people attention. He is between 2-3 yrs old and weighs around 70lbs a bit chubby but he thinks hes gorgeous so do we. Valentino is neutered, vaccinated, heartworm-free and microchipped.
